A Group of People Dancing to Mexican Music

What is Cinco de Mayo?

Cinco de Mayo is one of the most vibrant and lively celebrations of Mexican culture, but did you know it’s not Mexico’s Independence Day?

Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the Battle of Puebla, a historic event that took place on May 5, 1862. During this battle, a small and determined Mexican army achieved a surprising victory over the much larger and better-equipped French forces. While it’s a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States and Canada, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a joyful celebration of Mexican heritage, food, and traditions.

And here at Fiesta Market and Restaurant, we’re bringing that spirit of celebration to life!
